We're a little sickened by the mindless consumerism of Black Friday, and the equally mindless ways that online sellers spam you with imaginary black friday sales etc.

SO we decided to do something a bit different:

FROM NOW THROUGH MONDAY, ALL PROFITS ON ALL PRODUCTS AT HORRIBLENOISE.CA WILL GO TO CHARITY.

Yep that's right. Which charity you ask? 28 Too Many. They're an NGO working to end the practice of female genital mutilation / female circumcision.

FGM is practiced in more than 28 African countries, and is defined as the "ritual removal of female external genitalia", often including the clitoris.

Basically it's done to control women and their sexuality, but it's also (incorrectly) associated with cleanliness and modesty. The actual cutting is sometimes done by very unsanitary means, and there have been many deaths from complications.

I'm never, ever one to tell people from other cultures how to run their show, but this is a practice that does great harm to millions of women, with no real benefits. What's more, the man who runs this site is from Egypt 🇪🇬, where as many as 87% of women have undergone FGM. This is his idea, it's a cause he is passionate about, and one i'm proud to be part of.

A world without clitorises is not one we wanna live in.
